And so it begins. Throughout this blog, I am going to discuss ‘The World of Whiskey’ in its many forms. Predominantly focused on Irish Whiskey, I will explore some of the key trends among Whiskey drinkers, explore some of the key brands and influencers, maybe de-bunk some myths along the way, or maybe just add some fuel to the fire of many of the debates which go on throughout this wonderful industry of ours. Every now and then, I’ll throw in a few thoughts on Scotch Whisky, American Whisky, Japanese Whisky, maybe even Taiwanese whisky(if we can get any?), while hopefully keeping you sufficiently educated and entertained along the way.
Why me? You may ask. Well, I have dedicated the last 5 years of my career to trying to replace all the information which I obtained during my University Degree, with information on the wonderful world of alcoholic beverages. After 9 years within the hospitality industry, I made the move to specialist retail, where I continue to work alongside and learn from some of the top Wines & Spirits professionals in Ireland. I have helped put together some our Irelands top Whiskey selections, I have trained numerous bar staff throughout the country and advised on some of Ireland’s top whiskey related events over the past few years. And, I managed to fit in a brief spell representing Bushmills Irish Whiskey in Ireland.
Nowadays, I work as a Spirits Specialist with Mitchell & Son, advising and educating our customers on the Spirits category as a whole, and teaching our Irish Whiskey courses. I use the words, ‘Spirits Specialist’, in a very loose aspect. As, I am by no means an Expert, however, it is the area in which my knowledge ‘Specialises’ and I continue to study and learn as each day passes.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy my ramblings over the coming posts, and if you have any questions or queries on our work, you can contact us via e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
