Chateau Durfort Vivens 2009

Availability: In stock

An elegant wine with a complex nose of violet and morello cherry. Smooth on the palate, it is well balanced with fine grained tannins and pronounced flavours of blackcurrant and a hint of all spice. Smoke and slight peppery notes rise after further airing of the wine. This is a very fine example of a multi nuanced Margaux.

More information:

This 55 hectare second growth, now owned and run by Gonzague Lurton, is one of the finest in Margaux. It is planted to 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Franc at a density of 6,600 to 7,700 vines per hectare on deep gravel soils. The grapes are vinified in a mixture of oak and concrete vats and aged for about 18 months in barriques.

Dufort-Vivens is currently undergoing conversion to biodynamic farming. Today 60% of the vineyard is already green, the aim is to reach 100% by the end of 2014.

The wine has lovely colour and elegance with a hint of cedar and violets on the nose, supple tannins on the palate and a velvety fruit that is long and balanced.
