- 100% Syrah
Since the founding of the winery in 1934, De Martino have worked to achieve wines that represent the family, a promise they have maintained until today. During their 80-year history, they have fulfilled their commitment to creating wines that reflect their origin, respecting the characteristics imprinted on them by the area from which they come.
Their representative style is one that blends origin, personality, balance and gastronomic sensibilities. In order to achieve this type of wine, De Martino have explored over 347 vineyards all across Chile, encompassing almost the entire territory: from the north to the south and from the Andes Mountain Range to the coast. They have chosen the origins that best represent their winemaking philosophy.
Based on principles of organic farming and early harvesting (in the Chilean context), they have achieved the goal of achieving balanced alcohol levels. Fermentation is carried out exclusively with native yeasts, rendering unnecessary winemaking additives that can alter the resulting wine. Finally, aging is carried out in concrete or stainless steel containers, old barrels, large oak foudres (5,000 liters each) or ancestral terracotta amphorae. All of these are used in the hopes of limiting external influences on the aromas and flavors of the wines, thereby allowing the quality of each origin to fully express itself.
CHOAPA VALLEY - Located 200 km north of Santiago, this vineyard is planted in the foothills of the Andes Mountain Range at 825 meters above sea level. The diurnal temperature variations at this altitude, combined with the colluvial soils, result in Syrah that is elegant and precise.
