Powers Whiskey, originated in the John Lane Distillery at Thomas Street in Dublin. The distillery was established in 1791 and produced pot still whiskey up until it's closure in 1975.
In 1866, John Power & Son began bottling their own whiskey, becoming one of the first distilleries in the world to do so. As previous to this most whiskey would have been sold in cask form to whiskey bonders.
Nowadays, Powers whiskey is made in the Midletoin distillery in Co. Cork and is part of the Irish Distillers Ltd, Pernod-Ricard portfolio. Know for their signature blend, Powers Gold Label, they have now beecome one of the most popular brands for Single Pot Still whiskey, with their John Lane, Signature Release, and Three Swallow expressions.
