- Caiño Blanco
Located in the O Rosal valley in Galicia, Terras Gauda is notable for owning around 85% of its own vineyards. The winery is located in the extreme southwest of the province of Pontevedra, in the O Rosal valley, bordering Portugal. The vineyards are situated in a privileged landscape close to the mouth of the Miño River. Terras Gauda is specialised in the production of white wines with noble varieties within the Denomination of Origin Rías Baixas, one of five D.O of Galicia.
The flagship wine of the winery, Terras Gauda O Rosal 2013 is a beautiful representation of a blend of native grapes traditional to the Rías Baixas DO. Estate grown in the O Rosal Valley, located on the Galician riverbanks of the Miño River, this wine’s personality comes from a blend of the legendary Albariño, Loureira and Caiño Blanco.
For Terras Gauda 2013 we selected the albariño grapes from the “As Eiras” plots. Due to the excellent ripening during summer, the harvest started 12 days before than usual, beginning of September, with the right autumn sun light and temperatures to produce top-quality must. These conditions remained constant and beneficial to the other varieties such as Caíño Blanco, which were harvested at the beginning of October and Loureiro, end of September. The grapes arrived at the winery with high sugar content in perfect harmony with the acids.
