Tullamore D.E.W. Phoenix

Availability: In stock

Warm and spicy initially, then rich, toffee, vanilla notes become evident. The characteristic leafy, malty notes of Tullamore D.E.W. are enriched with deeper, toasted oak aroma and a hint of sherry nuttiness.

The higher strength tingles on the tongue leaving a spicy pot still flavour. Addition of a little water releases layers of caramel sweetness, delicate floral notes and oak tannins.

Long lasting with a lingering warmth. A perfect balance of oloroso sherry sweetness and spicy creamy pot still.

More information:

Tullamore D.E.W. Phoenix is an expression of the great history of the town and a celebration of the people. In 1785, Tullamore witnessed a devastating hot-air balloon accident. The resulting blaze nearly destroyed the town but immeasurably strengthened her people. Since that day, they placed a phoenix in the town’s coat of arms. Driven by their positive spirit, the town’s renaissance in the ensuing decades saw the establishment of the Tullamore distillery in 1829.

Tullamore D.E.W. is the original triple distilled, triple blend whiskey. Known the world over for its smooth and gentle complexity. It is named after Daniel E. Williams, the man who decided that true craft could only come from the True Character and insisted that his whiskey was made accordingly.

Daniel E. Williams, the creator of Tullamore D.E.W., a self-made man who worked his way up from a stable boy of the distillery to become the owner: he brought electricity, and motorised automobiles to Tullamore and created a whiskey so distinctive and character-filled, it could only be stamped with his initials D.E.W. The original Tullamore distillery opened its doors in 1829 in the heart of Tullamore town.

The grandson of Daniel E. Williams, Desmond inherited his grandfather's grit and determination. He followed his innovative footsteps by revolutionising the whiskey industry and introducing Ireland's first blended whiskey.

After 60 years of waiting in September 2014 Tullamore D.E.W. resumed production in it's ancestral home of Tullamore, Co Offaly. The new state-of-art distillery will ensure the legacy of the legendary whiskey will live on in the heart of Ireland for the foreseeable future.

To craft a whiskey of exceptional character, you need an exceptional process. At the core of the legendary whiskey making process is the number three. They only use three natural ingredients - grain, water, yeast -, three varieties of grain distillations and three different types of maturation casks. This makes Tullamore D.E.W. the worlds only triple distilled, triple blend, triple matured whiskey and yields an award-winning flavour profile of true Irish character.
