Cabernet Franc, or Bouchet as it’s traditionally known, traces its lineage back to the region of Bordeaux. The subtly fragrant, medium bodied Cabernet Franc is loved for its savoury, capsicum aromas, and distinctly stalky flavor. You can find single-varietal Cabernet Franc wines in regions such as the Loire Valley, but is more popular as a blending grape featured in the famous Bordeaux Blend; particularly in the Médoc and Graves. Single-varietal, well aged Cabernet Franc is spicy with aromas of raspberry, violets, cassis and tobacco. It’s subtle finesse makes Cabernet Franc an ideal food pairing wine.
