In 2002, Maison Sichel bought a property in Saint-André-du-Bois 60km south of the city of Bordeaux and renamed it Château Argadens after the noble family that founded the estate in the 13th century. The Sichel family choose Integrated Farming methods to cultivate grapes with respect for the environment. Château Argadens was one of the very first Bordeaux vineyards to be certified ISO 14001 in 2011 for reducing their environmental footprint. In 2014, the property obtained Haute Valeur Environnementale (HVE) 3 certification for increasing biodiversity, decreasing the negative environmental impact of their phyto-sanitary strategy (i.e. measures for the control of plant diseases, reducing the use of pesticides and fungicides), managing their fertilizer inputs, and improving water management.
