Hamilton Russell Chardonnay

A tight, minerally wine with classic Hamilton Russell Vineyards length and complexity. Unusually prominent pear and lime fruit aromas and flavours are brought beautifully into focus by a tight line of bright natural acid and a long, dry minerality. An elegant, yet textured and intense wine with a strong personality of both place and vintage.92 Points, Wine Spectator

Hamilton Russell Chardonnay

South Africa
Grape 1:
Chardonnay (100%)
750 ml
Off Dry

"The 2014 Chardonnay has a very composed nose; hints of wild honey, citrus lemon, nutmeg and flint emerge from the glass, very nicely focused and gaining intensity with aeration. The palate is clean and fresh on the entry, superb volume in the mouth here with almond and coconut-tinged citrus fruit. I just appreciate the flow of this wine, the energy is carried within and the precision on the finish. This is an outstanding Chardonnay from Hamilton Russell." 93 Points, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate"Bright yellow-gold. Rich, musky peach, lime and clove aromas convey an impression of energy. Very dry and delineated, showing bracing limey acidity and captivating Burgundian nut oil and stone fruit flavors. Refined, light on its feet and very long but in need of at least a couple years in bottle to expand and express itself. Quite austere in the early going. This consistently excellent South African Chardonnay has a track record for aging." 93 Points, Steve Tanzer"Arguably the most faithfully Burgundian-styled Chardonnay tasted on my trip. Yet it speaks as much of Hemel en Aarde's cool climate as it does of Beaune. Exquisitely crafted by winemaker Emul Ross, this tinglingly fresh and elegant Chardonnay also won a DWWA Gold this year. Lovely mouthfeel, linear, with melon, hazelnut, struck match, this is utterly compelling and a joy to drink." 93 Points, John Stimpfig93 Points, Anthony Dias Blue 95 Points, Tim Atkin 95 Points, Christian Eedes 92 Points, Wine Spectator Gold Medal, Decanter World Wine Awards
