Due to a large wildfire adjacent to their vineyards, Hamilton Russell found it necessary to reject nearly all of their Pinot Noir grapes in 2019 due to smoke taint. Instead they decided to purchase the best unaffected grapes they could find from generous colleagues in the area. As a result, the 2019 Pinot Noir is a Walker Bay wine rather than an estate wine.
Showing hints of an alluring primal character along with a dark, spicy, complex primary fruit perfume, this Pinot Noir still displays the incredible skill and judgement of the wine maker.
