Piedmont, or as the Italians say Piemonte, is an unmistakably beautiful northern Italian wine region. At the helm of Piedmont is Barolo and its neighbour Barbaresco, both renowned for their bold and age-worthy Nebbiolo-based wines. At a more approachable price point, yet still at a high level of quality are the reds of Barbera and Dolcetto and the whites of Gavi. Not to be neglected are the delicate, sweet, fizzy white wines of Moscato d’Asti that liven up any soirée.
