Sekt

Sekt is the term used for sparkling wines from Germany and Austria. The style originated in the 1820s and unfortunately endured decades of mediocrity, though that didn't stop the masses from consuming it on a rather large scale. Some relatively recent changes in governance have shown promising results and the Sekt of the future will be synonymous with quality.
