Porter and stout are primarily differentiated by the use of roasted barley and/or roasted malt (although the distinctions are often blurred) but they have a lot in common, from history to flavour. Both range from about 4-5 percent ABV and are moderate in body and carbonation, with mild coffee, chocolate, toffee and roasted malt aromas and flavors.
