A wheat beer is brewed with a large proportion of wheat relative to other grains such as barley. At least 50% of the grain must be wheat and the resulting style is usually light and refreshing and quite often cloudy in appearance.
The most famous styles of wheat beer are German Hefeweizen and Belgian Witbier. Wheat beers are almost always top fermented meaning that they are almost always ales.
