Vina Tondonia Rioja Reserva

For 145 years, four generations of the López de Heredia family have devoted themselves to producing exceptional and unique wines. Masterpieces which the founder of the company, Rafael López de Heredia y Landeta, defined in the late nineteenth century as the "Supreme Rioja".

Vineyard care, a scrupulous selection of grapes, ageing in oak barrels in the heart of deep underground galleries, and the later ageing in bottles, all contribute to making  illustrious wines with exceptional character.

"The flagship wine from the estate, its Tempranillo grapes wrapped in an alluvial amphitheatre overlooking the Ebro, its wines barrel aged for six years. The 2008 was a relatively cool vintage, understated but perfectly correct; accurate if somewhat anodyne descriptors for the wine itself. The colour holds ruby charm and concentration at the core; the nose captures the classic house style, savoury, earthy yet with fine chiselled dark fruit definition and hints of graphite in support, then wood smoke and soy. Wonderfully composed, with firm acidity and a real presence en la boca, the wine dares to satisfy on many levels. Drinking Window 2021 - 2034" (2008 vintage) 92 points, Decanter, Simon Field, February 2021

'Balsamic, coffee and subtle cigar box aromas with damson and fresh red cherry. This wine is arguably the most complex in the region and released after a decade of ageing.' Mick O'Connell, Business Post (March 2024).
