Le Rosé de Clarke

A strawberry red coloured wine with dark berry, cherry, floral and spice aromas. On the palate, soft fruits flavours of wild strawberry and cherry, combine with spicy pepper notes, to produce an elegant rosé with complexity, concentration, and a clean mineral finish.

"The first of two Rothschild-related wine this week is a rosé from the Médoc, a bit of a rarity in itself, but a revelation that demands the gods of the summer sun return so we can enjoy this au naturel. However, it can be enjoyed chilled indoors on a less than brilliantly sunny day. Château Clarke is one of the lesser-known Irish châteaux founded by Irishman Sir Toby Clarke on vineyards planted in the middle ages by Cistercian monks. It was acquired by Baron Edmond de Rothschild banker cousin of the Lafite-Rothschilds. This is a wine for salad and charcuterie, it has mouth-watering acidity and really meaty and complex mid palate that lets its terroir shine through."
