The personality of this wine is marked by the union of two estates, Águedas, located at over 800 meters, with rocky terrain and 60 years old vines, which provide concentration and body, and that of Carredueñas, with 25 year old vines and 35% limestone soil.

An estate bottled wine spending 18 months in oak, this is a robust yet elegant Tempranillo. Very deep in colour with enticing notes of dark forest berries, baking spice, and raspberry intermingled with liquorice and leather leading to a lengthy finish. Dry tannins create the perfect complement to red meat dishes.

Concejo Bodegas lies in the heart of the Duero valley, within the D.O. of Cigales. It's the only winery in Cigales that's on the right bank of the Pisuerga River, gateway to the county of Cerrato and en route from the Cigales appellation to Ribera del Duero.

At the end of the 1990s, Enrique and Olga gave up their jobs in Madrid to establish the winery, hoping to add something different to the region. Their resources were few but they did have the good fortune to start with mature vines that soon translated into wines of superior quality.

Tempranillo is also known as Ull de Llebre, Cencibel, Tinto Fino and Tinta del Pais in Spain, Aragonez, Aragonês or Tinta Roriz in Portugal, among several other synonyms. It is a black grape variety widely grown to make full-bodied red wines in the Iberian Peninsula.
