Role Overview
The Shop Assistant supports the daily operations of our specialty retail stores that sell wine and related products. The role focuses on customer service, product handling, store presentation, and ensuring all legal requirements for selling age-restricted goods are followed.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service: Greet customers, answer general questions about products, and help them locate items in the store.
Age Verification: Check identification for all customers purchasing age-restricted products and follow legal guidelines for responsible retailing.
Stock Management: Receive deliveries, unpack stock, rotate inventory, and ensure shelves are fully and neatly stocked.
Store Presentation: Maintain a clean, organised, and welcoming shop environment, including displays and signage.
Point-of-Sale Operation: Process purchases accurately using the till system and handle payments responsibly.
Product Knowledge Support: Learn basic information about different product categories (e.g., regions, types, storage) to assist customers without giving consumption advice.
Safety & Compliance: Follow all store policies, including those related to age-restricted sales, health and safety, and security.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues to ensure smooth daily operations and a positive customer experience.

Willingness to learn about products and store procedures.

Experience & Requirements

Previous retail or customer-facing experience is helpful but not essential.
Must meet the legal minimum age for selling alcohol in your region.
Basic numeracy for handling payments.
Ability to lift and move stock safely.

Working Conditions

Shifts may include weekends or evenings depending on store hours.
Role involves standing for extended periods and handling stock.
