Deep ruby in colour. The Petit de Petit-Village is brimming with ripe plum and black cherry aromas on the nose with subtle notes of spice. On the palate it has quintessentially plush Pomerol tannins and a bright acidity which carries the flavours onto the juicy finish.

Le Petit de Petit-Village is the second wine of Château Petit-Village and is sourced from a selection of younger Merlot vines and parcels that deliver softer, slightly less concentrated fruit. It is made by the same winemaking team, with the same scrupulous care, as Château Petit-Village itself. It is 100% Merlot and aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, 50% of which are one year old and 50% of which are two years old.

Château Petit-Village is situated in the heart of Pomerol, next door to Vieux Château Certan, and has benefited from significant renovations over the last two decades. Encouraging lower yields in the vineyards, building a new barrel cellar and introducing new fermentation vats have all been initiated by winemaker Daniel Llose and consultants Stéphane Derenoncourt and Marielle Cazeaux, who oversee work in the vineyards and winery.

The estate's 11 hectares of vines, currently undergoing organic conversion, are planted at the highest point of Pomerol on deep gravel soils, layered over an iron-rich clay subsoil known as ‘crasse de fer’. These typically have better drainage than clay-based soils, making them warmer than other Pomerol sites and helping the vines achieve balance even in wet, cool years.
