Cote-Rotie 'Madiniere' comes from a 2 hectare south/southeast-facing plot planted to 100% Syrah on schistous soils in Ampuis. The name Madinieres refers to a stream flowing nearby.

Saturated violet. A highly fragrant bouquet evokes fresh black and blue fruits, exotic spices, olive and candied flowers, and a smoky mineral element builds as the wine opens up. Juicy and focused on the palate, offering intense, mineral-accented boysenberry, bitter cherry and violet pastille flavours and a touch of licorice. The floral note returns on the impressively long finish, which features well-knit tannins and lingering spiciness.

Yves Cuilleron is one of the greats of Condrieu. He is based in the village of Chavanay, just south of Condrieu with familial roots going back a century. His grandfather was the first to bottle wine for commercial purposes in his village. Yves assumed control of the estate from his uncle Antoine in 1987. He increased the exposure of Condrieu but also gained holdings in nearby Cote-Rotie and even acquired vineyards in St-Peray, far to the south.
