100% Sangiovese. The very best parcels of Castagnoli are matured in oak for 24 months. The name of the Riserva derives from the ancient Tuscan stone terraces that shape the visual of the vineyards and winery.

Intense, sanguine color with vibrant aromas of blood orange, rosemary, and black olive. Fresh acidity cutting through the robust tannin, and a smooth, sensual mouthfeel with breed and class.

Castagnoli Chianti Classico Terrazze Riserva

Castagnoli is a small wine estate near the village of Castellina in Chianti. The estate was first mentioned in 998AD, when Ugo “The Great” Marquis of Tuscany, gifted it to the abbey of San Michele di Marturi. Since 1961, the vines and olive trees have been cultivated organically with elements of biodynamics.

Sangiovese is grown as Albarello (little tree) bush vines on ancient terraces in co-habitation with olive trees. The 11 hectares of vineyards are divided into 19 different crus to be able to showcase the unique terroir and the differences that Sangiovese displays between different micro-climates. Castagnoli’s wines aim to display the pure greatness and originality of Sanguis Jovis, the blood of Jupiter: Sangiovese.
