A Work of Art Inside and Out

The presentation canister mirrors the whiskey’s exceptional character. Adorned with intricate gilt filigree detailing, it reflects the rich history and craftsmanship of the Spot range, making it a standout addition to any collection.

Savour the Experience

Initially matured in Bourbon & Oloroso Sherry (first fill and refills) for 4 years before being recasked into a 500 litre Marsala butt on Dec 10th, 2008 for a rich and complex finish.

Cask No. 217213 is a single Marsala butt of impeccable pedigree made from American white oak crafted by Antonio Paez in Jerez and seasoned with Marsala Superiore made from Grillo and Catarratto grapes, delivering luscious aromas of honey, figs, and dates.

Cask was emptied on March 7th 2024 and prepared for bottling.

This new edition is bottled at cask 58.5% ABV for a bold, unadulterated taste.

Nose

Opens with rich and warming notes of freshly stewed fruits with cinnamon and light dustings of nutmeg, while earthy and herbal aromas, accompanied by tobacco leaf, add further depth and complexity. The pot still spices are complemented by the Marsala wine seasoned oak, creating vibrant notes of liquorice and cracked walnut.

Taste

Fruits to the fore with fresh apricot and cooked apple along with delicate herbal undertones of freshly picked garden mint. Sweet notes of crème brûlée and honeycomb give balance to the delicate oak tannins and robust pot still spices.

Finish

Lasting finish which sees the influence of the wine seasoning and pot still spices linger for a time while the oak is the first to gently fade.

The Legacy continues...

With a distilling history dating back to the 19th century, Midleton’s renowned bounty has been said to have drawn whiskey into being.

From its beginnings on the banks of the crystalline Dungourney River, Midleton Distillery’s links with the land run deep and long.

Of course whiskey is also the lifeblood of a people and their aspirations. And this town has always been a pioneering community, from the moment the Murphy family started to distil here in 1825.
