Cuvée 'Les Origines' is a single vineyard expression of the Domaine's Châteauneuf-du-Pape terroir.
Deep and brilliant, purple-red colour. An exciting nose with aromas of black fruit (blackcurrant, cherry) spices and vanilla. This great aromatic complexity carries through to the palate: the spices and ripe fruit appear with an elegant woodiness and harmonious tannins. The finish has good aromatic length and introduces a touch of liquorice and pepper. A terrific Chateauneuf-du-Pape with great concentration and finesse.
"Crisp black fruit and dried lavender are restrained on the nose but gain richness and ripeness on the palate of this buoyant red. It's laden with plum and cherry flavors yet silky in mouthfeel, freshened by a crush of minerality. Firm, densely packed tannins offer a noble frame and should integrate better from 2021. This wine has vast potential for aging, likely far beyond 2030." 97 points (2016 vintage), #24 Top 100 Cellar Selections 2020, Wine Enthusiast
"Despite the ripeness and plump, rounded palate, there's subtlety and restraint in the black cherry and berry flavors here. With its deeply integrated acidity and alcohol, it's a nuanced, concentrated red shaded by hints of nut and toast. Ripe but firm, penetrating tannins grip the long, savory finish. Hold until 2021 and enjoy for decades to come." 94 points(2015 vintage), Wine Enthusiast Magazine, January 2019
