Tyrconnell 10 year old Sherry Finish Irish Single Malt is a double-distilled Single Malt from the Cooley Distillery in Co. Louth, now operating as the Kilbeggan Distilling Company. The brand was originally founded by Andrew A.Watt & Co in the 1900's, named after a horse which came in at 100-1. The brand was then rejuvenated by John Teeling during his days in The Cooley Distillery, eventually releasing 3 cask finishes.

This expression was initially aged in ex-bourbon casks, and finished in ex-sherry casks, a fortified wine from the Jerez region of Spain. The sherry finish is evident from the on-set, extremely rich aromas, varying from dried fruit to leather to chocolate and raisin with lots of oak. All which you would expect from a sherry matured whiskey.

On the palate, this double-distilled malt shines through, with it's full spicy palate, exceptional layers of rich fruit, while retaining that warm maltiness that the Tyrconnell range is known for. The finish is fresh, long and full of flavour.

Tyrconnell 10 year old Sherry Finish Single Malt Irish Whiskey

Old mash tuns and fermenters are still in their original positions and the new Kilbeggan malt spirit flows from ancient pot stills – one of which is over 186 years old. Kilbeggan is the quintessential Irish whiskey distillery, with whitewashed walls, weathered slate roof, brick chimney stack, creaking timber water wheel and even regular ghost sightings.
