A polished, modern Right Bank wine that showcases both the richness of the vintage and the finesse of its limestone-clay terroir. Predominantly Merlot with a supporting touch of Cabernet Franc, it opens with deep, inviting aromas of ripe plum, blackberry compote and black cherry, lifted by hints of violet, cocoa, and sweet baking spice. The warm 2020 season brought excellent concentration, and that shows here in the wine’s plush texture and expressive fruit profile.

On the palate, it is supple and generous, balancing ripe dark fruit with refreshing acidity and smooth, fine-grained tannins. Subtle notes of graphite, mocha and sandalwood add complexity without overshadowing the purity of the fruit. The finish is long, harmonious and gently mineral, reflecting both thoughtful winemaking and the estate’s privileged position on the slopes near Saint-Émilion. Approachable now with a short decant, it will continue to evolve beautifully over the next decade.

On a winding country road, just to the north-west of the village of Saint-Émilion, stands Château Yon-Figeac. Built in 1886, the château is a classic example of the region’s architectural style: a limestone house flanked by 24 hectares of vines. Today it is recognised as one of the leading properties of the appellation, in terms of both its size and the quality of its wines.

The wines of Château Yon-Figeac are fermented in temperature-controlled, stainless-steel vats. Once fermentation is complete, the various batches are aged separately in the barrel cellar. The wines that will make up our Grand Vin (first wine) are aged exclusively in French oak barrels. Those destined for the estate’s second wine are aged in foudres (large casks) to limit the impact of the oak on the wine’s flavours and aromatic profile. The wines are left to age in barrel for around a year.
