Born in Lebanon’s historic Bekaa Valley, Ksara Réserve du Couvent is a sophisticated red blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Cabernet Franc. It offers a balance of ripe black fruit, warm spice, and a touch of cedar, supported by supple tannins and a long, savoury finish. Matured in oak, it carries both depth and elegance, making it a versatile partner for roasted meats, game, or aged cheeses.

This wine reflects the unique terroir of Lebanon’s high-altitude vineyards, where hot days and cool nights create ideal conditions for rich, concentrated fruit with natural freshness. Founded in 1857 by Jesuit monks, Château Ksara is Lebanon’s oldest winery and the pioneer of modern winemaking in the Bekaa Valley. Over more than 160 years, Ksara has preserved its heritage while embracing innovation, introducing noble grape varieties to Lebanon and refining techniques that balance tradition with contemporary quality.

Today, Ksara cultivates over 400 hectares of vineyards at altitudes between 1,000 and 1,200 metres, benefiting from limestone-rich soils and a Mediterranean climate moderated by mountain breezes. The estate is famed for its historic Roman caves — 2km of underground cellars used to age wines in perfect conditions.

Syrah (40%)

Syrah (also known as Shiraz in Australia and some other regions) is a bold, dark-skinned grape variety renowned for producing deeply coloured, full-bodied red wines with intense flavour and aging potential. Believed to have originated in the Northern Rhône, Syrah thrives in a range of climates—from the granite slopes of Hermitage and Côte-Rôtie to the sun-drenched vineyards of Barossa Valley and Stellenbosch. In cooler regions, it yields structured wines with aromas of blackberry, blackcurrant, violet, black pepper, and smoked meat; while warmer climates bring out riper notes of plum, dark chocolate, spice, and liquorice. Tannic and rich, yet capable of great elegance, Syrah responds beautifully to oak aging and can develop savoury, earthy complexity over time. Whether crafted as a single varietal or blended (notably with Grenache and Mourvèdre), Syrah is a powerhouse grape that combines depth, intensity, and character.
