Deep ruby red color, red jam, blueberries, sweet spices on the nose, the body is full with soft tannins and alcohol which create a good balance.

La Masseria is made by the Liberty Wines winemaking team, led by Matt Thomson of Blank Canvas and Luca Degani of Cantina Valpantena, in a privately owned, modern winery on the Salento peninsula. The brief was simple: we want a clean, fresh and vibrant Primitivo that is both modern and typical of the variety.

To achieve these objectives, the winemakers selected fruit from the best parcels on the estate, ensuring ripeness but no shrivelling to avoid raisin fruit and harsh tannins in the wine. They then fermented at low temperatures to retain freshness and checked the tank daily to ensure there was not too much tannin extracted. Partially aged in oak to add complexity, the wine is ripe, plummy and easy to drink.
