Montevertine 2020 is a benchmark expression of pure Tuscan Sangiovese, crafted with an unwavering commitment to tradition and terroir in Radda in Chianti. The 2020 vintage was marked by balance and freshness, and this is reflected in a wine that is poised, transparent and beautifully detailed rather than overtly powerful. Aromas open with sour cherry, redcurrant and wild strawberry, layered with dried herbs, rose petal, tobacco and a subtle earthy undertone.

On the palate, it is medium-bodied and finely structured, with bright acidity and gently gripped tannins giving shape and drive to the vibrant red fruit. Notes of cranberry, pomegranate, spice and a touch of balsamic complexity carry through to a long, savoury finish. Already expressive, Montevertine 2020 will reward short- to medium-term cellaring and is superb at table, particularly with classic Tuscan dishes, roast meats or simply well-aged hard cheeses.

Nestled in the hills of Radda in Chianti lies one of the greatest microclimates of Tuscany. Recognising the importance of the sangiovese grape, in the late 1970s Sergio Manetti made history by refusing to add trebbiano to his blend and turned his back on the Chianti Classico appellation. Today, Le Pergole Torte, one of Chianti’s most iconic and traditional wines, is still bottled as Rosso di Toscana.
