This legendary wine offers up a pure and complex bouquet of raspberries, cherries, cloves, cigar smoke, brown spice tones, salty soil elements, American oak and an exotic topnote of dried eucalyptus. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and fairly tightly-knit in personality, with a good core of red fruit, fine soil signature, buried tannins and a long, tangy and complex finish.

Viña Tondonia Reserva is always the most claret-like of the range, with a sense of reserve and structure that really allows it to shine equally well upon release at table, or after some time in the cellar.

López de Heredia has a well-earned reputation as the stalwart traditionalist of Rioja. For 145 years, four generations of the López de Heredia family have devoted themselves to producing exceptional and unique wines. Masterpieces which the founder of the company, Rafael López de Heredia y Landeta, defined in the late nineteenth century as the Supreme Rioja.

Vineyard care, a scrupulous selection of grapes, ageing in oak barrels in the heart of deep underground galleries, and the later ageing in bottles, all contribute to making illustrious wines with exceptional character.

Tempranillo

Tempranillo is also known as Ull de Llebre, Cencibel, Tinto Fino and Tinta del Pais in Spain, Aragonez, Aragonês or Tinta Roriz in Portugal, among several other synonyms. It is a black grape variety widely grown to make full-bodied red wines in the Iberian Peninsula.
