Sancerre, Loire Valley, France – Sauvignon Blanc

Classic Loire Valley Sauvignon Blanc with citrus, gooseberry and delicate herbal notes. Crisp, elegant and mineral, presented in a convenient half bottle.

From 1683, the Sautereau family have produced wine in the village of Crézancy, seven kilometres southwest of Sancerre. The winery is run by the family's tenth generation, David Sautereau, who makes modern, attractive wines that offer excellent value for money. His careful, orderly approach in his small, immaculate cellar is reflected in the purity of his wines which he describes as “sincere Sancerre."

The domaine's 22 hectares of vineyards are spread across the villages of Crézancy, Bué and Sancerre. They are planted on various soil types, including chalky ‘caillottes’ soils in the village of Bué, Kimmeridgian limestone in Crézancy and clay in Sancerre. This allows David to work with multiple blending options for his Sancerre, which has a touch of minerality on the palate and an aromatic gooseberry character. The vineyards are farmed organically and will achieve full certification from the 2024 vintage.

Cool-climate examples are lean and mineral, while warmer styles can be more generous and fruit-forward. Its crisp, mouth-watering profile makes it a natural partner for seafood, goat cheese, and fresh herbs. Whether sharp and steely or rounder with a touch of oak, Sauvignon Blanc remains a go-to choice for lovers of lively, expressive white wines.
