Warre’s Vintage Port 2000 is a classic, finely poised expression from one of the Douro’s most historic Port houses. The 2000 vintage is widely regarded as outstanding across the region, combining ripe fruit with structure and longevity, and Warre’s interpretation leans firmly towards elegance rather than sheer power. In the glass, it shows a deep, youthful ruby core with aromas of black cherry, damson, cassis and dark chocolate, layered with floral notes, liquorice and a subtle eucalyptus lift typical of top Douro vineyards.

On the palate, the wine is rich yet beautifully balanced, with firm but polished tannins supporting flavours of blackberry compote, plum, cocoa and gentle spice. There is freshness and clarity to the fruit, preventing any sense of heaviness, and the finish is long, refined and harmonious. Now well into its drinking window, Warre’s 2000 is superb after dinner with hard cheeses or dark chocolate desserts, but it also has the structure to continue ageing gracefully for many years to come.
