Dog Point combines the considerable wine growing experience of former Cloudy Bay personnel Ivan Sutherland and James Healy. The Sauvignon Blanc is an intensely aromatic wine bursting with citrus, tropical fruit and fragrant, fresh summer herbs. The palate is generous and concentrated with excellent balance of fruit and acidity. Match with seafood (especially oysters, scallops and mussels) but also salads, white meats and fresh cheeses.
A lifted and perfumed Sauvignon Blanc with strong citrus characteristics leading into ripe tropical tones. Complimentary flinty and smoky notes linger in the background providing a complex balance to the primary fruit. On the palate, the wine is juicy and mouth filling with vibrant ripe fruit. A fresh line of balanced acidity supports the soft, round texture.
Steven Spurrier of Decanter magazine considers that Dog Point produces the best Sauvignons in the Marlborough region and this wine continually makes an appearance in Wine Enthusiast's Top 100 wines of the year.
