Domaine Ponsot 'Clos de la Roche' Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru 2021

Based in Morey-Saint-Denis, Laurent Ponsot has run the estate since 1983. He spends most of his time in the vineyard. For him, healthy grapes are the most important component in the making of very good wine. In general, the beginning of his harvest starts later than his neighbouring producers. He waits until the grape has reached full maturity and  sometimes even longer. He has only one rule in his vinification process: not to follow any rules. His wines are powerful, rich with a lot of flavours and aromas.

'Cropped at nine hectoliters per hectare, Ponsot's 2021 Clos de la Roche Grand Cru Cuvée Vieilles Vignes unwinds in the glass with aromas of raspberries, plums, exotic spices, candied peel, raw cocoa and forest floor. Full-bodied, broad and textural, it's concentrated and multidimensional, with a suave, supple, seamless profile and a long, saline finish.' 95 points, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate.
