Domenico Clerico Barolo

An amazingly consistent Barolo that delivers a lot of power, complexity and enjoyment. Made from 40-45 year old Nebbiolo vines the post fermentation ageing process takes place in barriques and 50hl large oak barrels before a further ageing in bottle. The wine shows an amazingly complex array of aromatics ranging from red and black fruit to savoury leather – smoky tobacco to spicy notes. This is Nebbiolo showing its powerful personality in a full bodied, complex and age worthy wine. Best after a decant.

"Fruit from core holdings in Monforte: Ginestra, Bussia, Pajana and Mosconi. The winery's modernist approach utilises short macerations and a mix of small oak and steel vessels. The ripe, polished, concentrated yet tangy red fruits speak of freshness, while creamy, woody and spicy notes give complexity. Gorgeous." 93 points (2018 vintage), Decanter
