From one of the oldest appellations in the Languedoc, Fitou from Gérard Bertrand is a rich yet beautifully balanced southern French red. Layers of blackberry, black cherry and wild herbs are complemented by notes of black pepper, liquorice and garrigue, leading into a smooth, full bodied palate with ripe tannins and a long, savoury finish. Warm and expressive without being heavy, it pairs beautifully with grilled lamb, slow-cooked meats, cassoulet or mature hard cheeses.
