Fragrant, elegant and wonderfully expressive, Le Piane Colline Novaresi Nebbiolo showcases the distinctive character of northern Piedmont's celebrated red grape. Bright aromas of red cherry, raspberry and wild strawberry are complemented by delicate notes of rose petals, violet, dried herbs and subtle earthy spice. The palate is beautifully poised, with vibrant red fruit, refreshing acidity and Nebbiolo's characteristic fine, structured tannins. More delicate and mineral-driven than many of its counterparts from Barolo, this is a wonderfully refined Italian red with a savoury, lingering finish. Le Piane is one of the most influential producers in the revival of northern Piedmont's historic Boca wine region.

The estate's modern story began when Swiss wine enthusiast Christoph Künzli discovered the area's extraordinary winemaking heritage and began restoring abandoned vineyards, working with local grower Antonio Cerri.

Established under the Le Piane name in the late 1990s, the winery has become internationally recognised for its commitment to traditional grape varieties, careful vineyard management and minimal-intervention winemaking.

The estate is particularly celebrated for its Boca wines, which demonstrate the remarkable complexity and ageing potential of Nebbiolo grown on the region's ancient volcanic soils.

Le Piane Colline Novaresi Nebbiolo offers a more immediate and approachable introduction to the estate. Fermented with a relatively short maceration and matured for approximately nine months in stainless steel, it emphasises aromatic freshness, bright fruit and supple tannins rather than oak influence.

Renowned for its pale garnet colour yet remarkable depth, it produces wines of striking aromatic complexity, often showing notes of rose, violet, red cherry, tar, and earthy spice. On the palate, Nebbiolo is distinguished by firm tannins and bright acidity, giving it exceptional ageing potential. Though challenging to grow, requiring the right soils and exposures, Nebbiolo rewards patience and craftsmanship with wines that balance elegance, power, and longevity.
