Light amber in colour. This exceptional sherry brings together the finesse and delicacy of an Amontillado with the richness and body of an Oloroso. A rare style of sherry, it is dry with rich, concentrated flavours, reminiscent of spices and dark chocolate.Serve between 14-15ºC in a white wine glass with olives, nuts, cheese or "serrano ham. This wine can accompany consommes, game soups, cold and smoked meats, foie-gras and many spicy Asian dishes.
"A fabulous Sherry at an incredible price! Palo Cortado combines the best qualities of amontillado (dry, delicate, walnut skins, hints of flor) and oloroso (caramelly, rich, dried figs, more oxidised) in an intense, complex whole. This is beautifully concentrated with nutty, spiced fruitcake density and a long milk chocolate finish. Stock up for Christmas and serve slightly chilled as an aperitif or with cheese." 93 points, Decanter Magazine

96 points, Robert ParkerSilver Medal, International Wine Challenge 2013Silver Medal, Internation Wine & Spirit Competition 2013"Powerful aromatic and balsamic nose with more delicate macadamias and toffees on palate. Long and vivid." Bronze Medal, Decanter World Wine Awards 2012"This leads with smoked orange peel and date notes, backed by a dry, defined core of clove, woodspice and prune eau de vie flavors that linger through the finish." -Wine Spectator, February 2012"Dark amber in color, with maple, walnut and other sweet-meets-nutty aromas. It's a bit tangy, but being as zesty as it is propels maple, white chocolate and apricot flavors. This one has depth and a very long finish, which makes it a regal but still approachable palo cortado. Overall it's similar to an amontillado, but with more pulsing, piercing acidity." 90 points, Wine Enthusiast, February 2009"One of my favorites among the drier, lighter-styled Sherries is the non-vintage Palo Cortado Peninsula. Medium amber-colored, with great balance, intensity, and acidity as well as a scorched earth/roasted nut character, it is a stunning, flavorful yet light, crisp Sherry." 92 points, Wine Advocate
