Aroma

Opens with sweet-scented aromas of vanilla and sugar cane, complimented by crisp and zesty notes of orange and sweet pear. Enhanced by the French oak, this wonderfully complex whiskey carries an array of spices, with cinnamon and nutmeg to the fore accompanied by the subtle undertones of candied ginger, heather honey, and white chocolate. The oak influence continues to build with intriguing antique wood notes, creating an exceptionally balanced whiskey.

Taste

Succulent texture with stone fruits and vanilla cream in abundance, all the while the pot still spices slowly build in tandem with the delicate herbal notes and soft floral nuances. Gentle tannins linger in the background enhancing the sweet fruits while hints of clove spice and cinnamon showcase the oak’s measured influence from the many years of ageing.

Finish

Satisfyingly long finish with the pot still spices the first to fade, allowing the oak and stone fruits to gently linger until the very end.

'Following the success of our first ground breaking collaboration with the renowned Taransaud cooperage, I’m delighted to bring you Midleton Very Rare Forêt de Tronçais Édition 2. For the second edition we selected a very special bespoke batch of grain and pot whiskeys aged to perfection in the rare and sought-after T5 casks, it once again marries the delicate influences of the world’s finest oak with the unmistakable Midleton character and DNA.'

Kevin O’Gorman, Master Distiller, Midleton Distillery

With a distilling history dating back to the 19th century, Midleton’s renowned bounty has been said to have drawn whiskey into being.

From its beginnings on the banks of the crystalline Dungourney River, Midleton Distillery’s links with the land run deep and long.

Of course whiskey is also the lifeblood of a people and their aspirations. And this town has always been a pioneering community, from the moment the Murphy family started to distil here in 1825.
