Olim Bauda Nizza Barbera

Promoted to DOCG status in 2014, Nizza is a Piedmont region producing wine exclusively from the Barbera grape.

"After working with barriques for a number of years, the Bertolini brothers switched to 25hl casks of French Allier oak in order to achieve a more elegant expression of Barbera. From the northern sector of Nizza, this has seductive aromas of raspberry, cherry and cocoa laced with coffee wafting faintly through the background. The fruit is plush, taking on an exotic sweet savouriness, and the tannins are graceful. Tangy, zesty acidity cleanses the palate and stimulates the appetite. Very long." 95 points (2016 vintage), Decanter

"Sweet, juicy blackberry and cherry compote nose. Quite rich and sleek on the palate, with light acidity that brings some finesse. Spicy and well balanced, this has a sweet-and-sour finish but no greenness. Quite long." 95 points (2015 vintage), Decanter
