Crafted by the renowned Spanish winemaker Raúl Pérez, this wine comes from the village of Valtuille de Abajo in the Bierzo region of north-west Spain. Made from the native Mencía grape, it showcases the freshness and aromatic intensity for which the variety has become famous. In the glass it displays a bright ruby colour, with lifted aromas of red cherries, raspberries and wild herbs, supported by subtle floral notes of violets.

On the palate, the wine is supple and medium-bodied, offering juicy red berry fruit, a hint of spice and lively acidity that makes it both vibrant and moreish. Soft tannins give it an easy drinkability, while a mineral edge reflects the slate soils of Bierzo. This is a wonderfully pure expression of Mencía in its youthful style – perfect to enjoy slightly chilled with charcuterie, tapas or grilled white meats.

Every wine in Mitchell & Son has been carefully selected, researched and taste tested by our team, so we stand behind each selection on our retail list. If you are not happy with a wine, a delivery, or any aspect of our service, please contact us and we will be only too happy to help you in any way we can.
