From the steep granite slopes of the Northern Rhône, Yves Cuilleron Saint Joseph Blanc ‘Lyseras’ is a beautifully expressive white combining richness with impressive freshness. Made from the region’s traditional white varieties, Marsanne and Roussanne, it offers ripe pear, white peach and apricot alongside honeysuckle, almond and subtle spice. The palate is generous and silky, but a mineral backbone and fresh acidity keep everything precise and beautifully balanced. Presented here in magnum, the larger format is particularly appealing for entertaining and offers excellent potential for slower development in bottle. A superb gastronomic white for roast poultry, richer fish dishes, scallops, creamy sauces or mature cheeses.

Yves Cuilleron is one of the greats of Condrieu. He is based in the village of Chavanay, just south of Condrieu with familial roots going back a century. His grandfather was the first to bottle wine for commercial purposes in his village. Yves assumed control of the estate from his uncle Antoine in 1987. He increased the exposure of Condrieu but also gained holdings in nearby Cote-Rotie and even acquired vineyards in St-Peray, far to the south.

Saint JosephSaint-Joseph follows the western bank of the Rhône through a dramatic landscape of steep, predominantly granite based vineyards. Although best known for Syrah, a small proportion of Saint Joseph is white, produced exclusively from Marsanne and Roussanne. These wines combine the natural generosity of the varieties with the mineral freshness associated with the Northern Rhône's granitic terroir.
